On Wednesday November 2nd 2011, young people from across Long Island gathered at the Hilton Homewood Suites in Plainview, NY to address the issues affecting young adults on Long Island and bridge the gap between generations. This "Meet The Young Adults" event allowed candidates in the upcoming election to directly address their younger constituents and speak to the issues that impact their current everyday lives.
This event was put together by Action Long Island's Young Adult Alliance who meet once a month in Melville to discuss important issues such as housing on Long Island, Business Development, and the future of our region.
With approximately 50 attendees, this event hosted candidates from a variety of districts throughout Long Island including Babylon Supervisor and candidate for Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs and Huntington Councilwoman Glenda Jackson. Also in attendance were Allison McNally, candidate for Oyster Bay Town Council , Marc Laykind, candidate for Oyster Bay Town Council, Mike Canzoneri, candidate for Oyster Bay Town Clerk, Gary Port, candidate for Hempstead Town Supervisor and Stacy Bennett, candidate for State Supreme Court.
This evening was the first of many fruitful events connecting young professionals to the decision makers who will impact their lives. Food was donated by La Bottega and venue was donated by Hilton Homewood Suites.
