YAA Subcommittees
ยท As a member of the ALI-YAA, you have the opportunity to participate in Action Long Island's Task Forces. This will give you the opportunity to keep informed of the issues, assist in development and implementation of industry-specific initiatives, and Network within the business community.
Each of Action Long Island's Task Forces has a subcommittee dedicated to giving young adults a voice. The following are issues being addressed by young adults in each task force.
Energy & Environment Task Force- Young Adult Subcommittee
o Promoting Sustainability practices on Long Island
o Promoting the development and implementation of Clean Energy Technology and Renewable Energy use on Long Island
o Reducing the use of fossil fuels on Long Island
o Demanding a voice on Energy Costs and the structure of the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA)
Transportation Task Force- Young Adult Subcommittee
Leader: Louis Imbroto-LICA
o Improving transportation on LI
o Developing and Establishing better forms of transportation
o Reducing the number of cars on the roads
o Promoting Transportation infrastructure that supports walk-able places
o Promoting Cleaner Transportation Methods
o Supporting Cost Effective Upgrades to the transportation infrastructure
Healthcare Task Force- Young Adult Subcommittee

o Seeking affordable health insurance for young adults
o Supporting locally grown produce on LI
o Promoting wellness on LI
o Promoting new technologies in Healthcare
Small Business & Economic Development Task Force- YAA Subcommittee
Leader: Steve Murphy- Melville YPG
o Supporting young entrepreneurs
o Promoting businesses owned and operated by young adults
o Seeking more jobs for young adults
o Promoting economic development within the young adult community
Housing & Development Task Force- Young Adult Subcommittee
Leader: Frances Picone- CIBS
o Promoting the development of housing for young adults
o Giving young adults a voice in development plans for LI
o Promoting properly situated high density, transit-oriented development for young adults
